Healthy tip 3: Reduce sugar

The Western diet not only has a problem with portion sizes, we also have a big problem with added sugar in our food. The increase of sugar in our diet has created weight problems and diabetes. Decreasing consumption of candy and desserts will solve part of the problem but people don’t realize that it is in bread, cereals, pasta sauce, frozen dinners, fast food and low-fat meals.

Tips for cutting down on sugar

  • Slowly decrease the sugar in your diet daily
  • Avoid sugary drinks and try some water with infused fruit
  • Avoid processed or packaged foods as much as possible or read the label and buy the one with the lowest amount of sugar
  • Cut down on sweet snacks
  • Check labels and choose low-sugar products.
