The Secret to Meal Planning!
The secret to meal planning is having a well-stocked pantry.
What are your go to and quick meals that you make each month? Spaghetti? Chili? Tacos? By knowing what those meals are, you can plan ahead by making sure your pantry always has those items.
One of my staple meals each month is bean chili. I keep these items on hand in my pantry so that I can make it whenever I have a long day and need a quick dinner to make. By having these staples already in stock, it saves me time and money from making another trip to the grocery store.
Here is my recipe for a quick bean chili –
2 tablespoons of canola oil
1 chopped onion
1 chopped green pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can black beans (low-sodium) drained and rinsed
1 can kidney beans (low-sodium) drained and rinsed
1 can garbanzo beans (low-sodium) drained and rinsed
1 can corn (no-salt added) drained
1 can diced tomatoes (no-salt added)
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
salt and pepper
Sauté onion and green pepper in oil over medium heat until onion becomes translucent. Add remaining ingredients and cook for 15 – 20 minutes.
